Proud Mommy and Daddy of a wondrous Bean

Parent Teacher conference was today. Emily is beyond the requirements for the first quarter in nearly every area. She’s on target for the ones she isn’t advanced in. Several other parents have;mentioned TO THE TEACHER how kind and sweet she is –because they are told by their kids or have interacted with her when they volunteer. Her teacher(and now four other parents have stopped to tell me at birthday parties –three parties last week ) commented on her beautiful manners and how kind she is. Our girl is liked by the kids AND their parents.
A lot has changed since the beginning of the year. She’s learned how to deal (mostly, this is a continuing process) with kids who are mean to her. She’s a resilient lass and continues to be kind even when some kids are unkind. And she’s won just about everyone over. Even the two girls who were being so harsh at the beginning of the year. I think she’ll have an easier time dealing with the mean people than I ever did.
The only things we need to work on? Our house is too quiet so she isn’t used to concentrating in the middle of noise so we need to have music on more often or “turn on the TV while she’s coloring ,writing, or cutting paper” Eek for the latter, but maybe a little. We tend to have the TV off more than on and to concentrate on one thing at a time. We do have pretty quiet pursuits (reading, writing, crafts). So the Bean needs a little help with concentration in a noisy situation.
And cutting paper–she does it upside down, so a little practice there. Two fingers on the top and kind of twisted around, not sure about that one.
It was glowing and so are we. And I do have a small amount of ” glee in the back of my head for those (oh and how I am restraining myself in the descriptive area) who criticized both our daughter and our parenting. Her last three (including her current) teacher have told us now what a wonderful child she is and what a wonderful job we’re doing Learning is fun and natural for her because we’ve woven that into our lives. And we are polite with each other; so she is.
SO THERE!
I guess the proof is in the Bean pudding.
