of spaghetti, crayons and friend ripley

Among other less important things,Ripley’s mom Alex had brain surgery right after these pictures were taken. Madame A is out of the hospital and back with her family now, but not feeling well and won’t be for awhile. It was a huge ordeal, many hours of surgery and it will be many weeks of recovery (that is if we can keep her quiet). The Bean really seems to enjoy her time visiting Ripley, though she gets out of sorts when Ripley visits her. I think it has to do with that toddler possessiveness. It probably doesn’t help that I make her share and like to play and cuddle with the cutitude that is the ripper too. During this day, we had the most hilarious giggle festival doing silly hand motions. I’m not sure what it meant in her precious head, but the laughter filled me up.
With that here are some pictures
Later on Boa came over and brought a BAT MOBILE…no really, an electric bat mobile, for the Bean. It is way cool and well it is a BAT MOBILE!! We’ll fire it up for her this spring. And since our daughter will be tooling around in a bat mobile, I put the ring back in my nose. There is a connection between those two things, but you probably have to know me to understand it.
The Bean is also deeply into drawing right now. She makes a vehement scribble on a page and proclaims it an octopus or jellyfish. Sometimes it is “brother and sister” from the BoohBahs. But she is certainly drawing something and it must be my limited artistic vision that doesn’t discern the tentacles on the paper.
Emily can say cthuhlu now…and speaks easily in four or five word sentences. She also can count to 8 in Spanish, and does that when we go up the stairs.
Soon I’ll be signing her up for a swimming class. I have a bit of trepidation about this since I don’t want to frighten other moms away with my tattoos (which Emily points at, says “Tattoo” and then meows, because they are all cats)–not so much for my sake, but for possible playmate sake. It is a weird road to walk–to be sure to be yourself, because you want to raise your child to be herself, but to understand that you have to compromise to achieve a greater goal. I hope I navigate this well, for the Bean’s sake.
And now, another favorite Emily food : Skettie!
