I had to be firm with Em today
(it was actually too cool to swim and we were in the backyard and she
was trying to get into the pool with her clothes on, which if it had
been warm would have been ok, but it wasn’t, so, well–you get the
picture) so we do this counting thing<\/p>\n
One tantrum had already gotten to two…<\/p>\n
“Emily, no pool today, you can play in your playhouse”
‘Angry Bean” She then puts her two index fingers in her mouth and
pretends to bite down on them. “I eat my fingers!” said threateningly.<\/p>\n
I turn my back and try not to crack up.
“That’s one “<\/p>\n
‘Angry Bean” She then puts her two index fingers back in her mouth and
pretends to bite down on them once again. “I eat my fingers!” said with even greater menace.<\/p>\n
“That’s two.”<\/p>\n
Luckily, I could crack up for awhile because she stomped off and
slammed her playhouse door.<\/p>\n
a little later…..<\/p>\n

Opens mouth very wide, looks pointedly at me and screams the most
amazingly loud scream ever.<\/p>\n
“That’s one “

That’s three, time out.<\/p>\n
So I take her out of the back yard and upstairs.<\/p>\n
She stops screaming for a minute and says “need to take off shoes.”<\/p>\n
I say, “ok, I’ll take them off.”<\/p>\n
I do so and say, “time out now.”<\/p>\n
She goes into her bed and looks right at me and says<\/p>\n
“kittybox mommy. mad bean. kittybox mommy”<\/p>\n
So I’ve been cursed out by my daughter for the first time.<\/p>\n
