Cheese, or as the Bean calls it “the big mouse and cheese.”
It was , er something.

We met up with Carolyn, Clare and Bill, which is always cool. We don’t get to see them enough, but then it seems there is much hibernating of all folks out here in the Winter. They’d been once or twice before, so knew the drill. I guess I haven’t been to one, though I knew something about it or maybe I went a long long time ago. Way before Chuck turned into a DJ and there were television screens the kids could dance and see themselves on.

Note: Clare and Emily dancing was about the cutest thing ever. I love little kid dancing. The waving of the arms, the wagging of the heinies. The jumping and galloping–utterly unselfconscious and perfect. I think that might be the definition of joy.

We had pizza and even had conversations–though one of each family was chasing wild toddler at any given time.

It is not a bad place, it’s just a very…well stimulating place. The lights and sounds and noises and flashing and jumping and…well that was a lot of input. For adults and kids. But I think it is a right of passage somehow. Em is/was still sick (we went to the doctor again and it is certain, she has inherited my ears because she has her fourth, or possibly a continuation of the third, ear infection since October)so , while she had all her energy (of couse it would take a tranque gun to slow the child down)she didn’t have all her ease. At least at the end. She was quite able to introduce herself to all manner of adults and children~ “hi I’m Bean, I’m almost three.” But about 10 after seven, the eyes took on a glazed look, the dancing became frantic and it was time to go.

I wasn’t at my best since I managed to find another cold or flu somewhere in the last week. Feh. We’ve been sick since October which is depressing. When we went to the doctor today I asked her about that and she said it’s been a bad year for illness and this being Em’s first year in school it isn’t surprising, though she has been (we all have) hard hit.

I’m ready for Spring. I like the snow and the Winter and bundling up, but I do not like the germs that go with all this.

This picture came from The Bean

Seeing This guy for the first time

And this was her favorite thing to do:

Yes, I did trim her bangs…yes they are short and not perfect, but they are pretty even (even if they don’t look it in the pictures).
